How to count numbers in Vietnamese

From number 1 to the tens numbers :
If you want to learn and pronounce well the numbers, you should try to listen to the native speakers’s pronunciation.
From 1 to 10
0 : không
1 : một
2 : hai
3 : ba
4 : bốn
5 : năm
6 : sáu
7 : bảy
8 : tám
9 : chín
10 : mười
Counting by tens
From 11 to 19
How to pronounce: We add “mười” before the following number as follows:
11 : mười một
12 : mười hai
13 : mười ba -> Continue counting in the same way from number 14 to number 19
For the next tens number, you just need to add “mươi” between the previous number and the following number as follows:
20 : hai mươi
21 : hai mốt (hai mươi mốt)
22 : hai hai (hai mươi hai) -> Continue counting in the same way from number 23 to number 29
30 : ba mươi
40 : bốn mươi …
50 : năm mươi …
60 : sáu mươi …
70 : bảy mươi …
80 : tám mươi …
90 : chín mươi
91 : chín mốt (chín mươi mốt) -> Continue counting in the same way from number 92 to number 99
The hundreds, thousands, millions, and billions numbers :
From 100 to 900
We add “trăm” after the first number (the pronunciation of the first number) as follows:
100 : một trăm
200 : hai trăm
300 : ba trăm
400 : bốn trăm
500 : năm trăm
600 : sáu trăm
…
900 : chín trăm
From 1000 to 1 000 000 000
For large numbers, Vietnamese people often use commas, dots or spaces to divide the whole numbers into small groups of three numbers.
1 000 : một nghìn
1 000 000 : một triệu
1 000 000 000 : một tỷ
Example: 5000000 (năm triệu) is usually written as 5,000,000 or 5.000.000

Lớp tôi có 46 học sinh : My class has 46 students
Trong gia đình tôi có 4 thành viên : In my family, there are 4 people

Cháu 10 tuổi ạ : I’m 10 years old

Đường dây nóng gọi đến cảnh sát là 113 : The police hotline is 113
Số điện thoại tổng đài KFC 18009198 : The telephone number of KFC is 18009198
Year of Birth
Anh trai tôi sinh năm 1992 : My elder brother was born in 1992
Cuốn sách này xuất bản năm 2001 : This book was published in 2001
Gia đình tôi xây ngôi nhà này vào năm 1984 : My family built this house in 1984
