Position of “bị” in the sentence :

“Bị” is a verb that expresses receiving or undergoing something favorable or unfavorable.

Meaning and example :

Meaning: Express that the subject receives or undergoes something which is done or caused by another. Things going after “bị” are often not good for the subject.

Note: “Bị” can also go with “bởi” to indicate people / things that do or cause something on the subject (…bị + verb + bởi…)

Example:

Hôm qua tớ bị mẹ mắng.
I was scolded by my mother yesterday.

Máy tính của tớ bị thằng bé ấy phá hỏng mất rồi.
My computer has been ruined by that boy.

Cây dù của tôi bị ai lấy mất rồi.
Someone took my umbrella.

Con mèo của tôi đã bị ai đó bắt trộm mất rồi.
My cat has been stolen by someone.

Đứa bé ấy được nhận nuôi bởi một gia đình tốt bụng.
That kid was adopted by a kind family.

Theo như tin tức, đứa bé ấy đã bị bắt cóc bởi một người lạ mặt.
According to news, that child was abducted by a stranger.

Điện thoại của tôi bị hỏng rồi nên không thể gọi cho cậu được.
My phone is broken, so I can’t call you.

A: Hôm qua sao cậu không đi học?
B: Vì tôi bị bệnh.
A: Why didn’t you go to school yesterday?
B: Because I was sick.

A: Sao quần áo con bẩn thế này?
B: Con bị ngã xe đạp.
A: Why are your clothes so dirty?
B: I fell off my bike.
