Position of “chỉ” in the sentence :

“Chỉ” is an adverb.

Meaning and example :

Meaning: Express the limited extent of a thing, characteristic or action.

Example:

Chỉ có mỗi cậu ấy biết chuyện gì đã xảy ra.
Only he knows what happened.

Cái áo này rất rẻ. Chỉ có 20.000 đồng thôi.
This shirt is very cheap. It costs only 20,000 VND.

Anh ấy chỉ chịu nghe lời khuyên của cậu thôi.
He only listens to your advice.

Lớp tớ chỉ có 8 học sinh nam.
There are only 8 male students in my class.

Bài văn của tớ chỉ có 1 trang.
My essay has only 1 page.

Tớ chỉ có một người em gái nên tớ rất yêu thương nó.
I only have one younger sister, so I love her so much.

Mọi người ai cũng đã kiếm được một công việc ổn định. Chỉ có mình tớ là vẫn còn thất nghiệp.
Everyone has got a job. I am the only one who is still unemployed.

Cái đó chỉ được bán ở Việt Nam thôi. Cậu không thể mua nó ở những đất nước khác đâu.
That thing is only sold in Vietnam. You can’t buy it in other countries.

Đây là món ăn đặc sản chỉ có ở quê tôi thôi. Anh hãy ăn thử đi.
This is a specialty dish which is only available in my hometown. Please try it.
