Is an adverb.
Meaning and example :
Meaning: Indicates an event, a state or an action that happened before a certain point of time (this point of time, if not marked by a specific time, will be considered as the present time).
Example:
Hôm qua, tôi đã không đi học.
Yesterday, I did not go to school.
Sáng nay trời đã mưa.
It rained this morning.
A: Con đã học bài chưa?
B: Vẫn chưa ạ. Bây giờ con sẽ học ngay đây.
A: Have you studied?
B: Not yet. I will study soon.
Tôi đã đọc cuốn truyện ấy hàng trăm lần rồi mà vẫn không thể hiểu được nội dung của nó.
I have read that comic book hundreds of times and still cannot understand its contents.
Ông ta đã từng là một người rất giàu có, nhưng do tiêu xài phung phí nên giờ đã thành một người nghèo.
He used to be a very rich person, but because of extravagant spending, he became a poor person.

A: Trông anh quen lắm. Hình như tôi đã gặp anh ở đâu rồi thì phải.
B: Vậy sao?
A: You look familiar to me. Looks like I’ve met you somewhere.
B: Really?
Tôi đã ăn cơm rồi mà vẫn còn thấy đói bụng.
I’ve eaten rice and I’m still hungry.
