How to use mọi in Vietnamese - Vietnamese grammar

Position in sentence :

Is an indefinite quantifier placed before a unit noun.

Meaning and example :

Meaning: Refers to the whole of a group or a mass.

Note:

– In some cases, “mọi” can be replaced by “mỗi” to refer to a whole group of members which share a quality.

– “Mọi” can’t go with “các”, “những”.

– We can use the following forms:

+ Mọi + time expression (khi, hôm, lúc, lần, năm, tháng, ngày): refers to time up to the moment of speaking.

+ Tất cả + mọi: refers to the whole of what is being said.

Example:

Tất cả mọi người đều đang mong chờ màn trình diễn của cậu đấy.
Everyone is looking forward to your performance.

Mọi khi tôi vẫn hay ra ngoài ăn tối, nhưng hôm nay tôi quyết định sẽ tự mình nấu ăn.
I often go out to have dinner, but I decided to cook for myself today.

Sản phẩm này được bán ở mọi nơi trên đất nước.
This product is sold everywhere in the country.

Cậu đến trễ thế! Mọi người về hết rồi.
You are late! Everyone went home.

Mọi ngày tôi đi học bằng xe buýt.
Every day I go to school by bus.

Mọi hôm tôi đi ngủ lúc 10 giờ tối, nhưng hôm qua đến tận 12 giờ khuya tôi mới đi ngủ.
I go to bed at 10pm every night, but yesterday I didn’t sleep until 12am.

Người dân từ mọi quốc gia trên thế giới đều rất mong chờ đón chào năm mới.
People from every country in the world are looking forward to the new year.

A: Dạo này việc học của cậu như thế nào rồi?
B: Vẫn như mọi khi thôi. Chả có gì mới mẻ cả.
A: How is your studying recently?
B: It’s the same as always. There is nothing new at all.
