How to use nhé in Vietnamese – Vietnamese grammar

Hello everyone! In this post, we will introduce to you the lesson: How to use nhé in Vietnamese – Vietnamese grammar.

Position in sentence :

Is a sentence-final particle.

Meaning and example :

Meaning: Used to catch the listener’s attention to imply that the listener should agree with the speaker regarding the speaker’s advice, understanding of a promise, suggestion.

Note: In the Southern dialect, “nhé” can be replaced by “nha”, “nhe”, “nghen”.

Example:

Khi nào về đến nhà nhớ gọi điện cho em nhé!
Remember to call me when you come home, OK?

Cậu nhất định không được quên bọn tớ đâu đấy nhé! Qua đó rồi nhớ viết thư cho tụi mình nhé!
You must not forget us! Remember to write to us when you’re abroad, OK?

Chủ nhật tụi mình đi xem phim nhé!
Let’s go to the movies on Sunday!

Tối nay ra ngoài ăn nhé!
Let’s go out to have dinner!

Thôi, mình về nha! Mai gặp lại.
That’s all, I’m going home, all right! See you tomorrow.

Đừng nói chuyện này cho ai biết nha!
Don’t tell this to anyone, OK?

Ngày mai cậu có rảnh không? Nếu rảnh thì cùng ra ngoài chơi nhé!
Are you free tomorrow? If you’re free, let’s go out and play!

Vào thành phố, con phải cố gắng học nhé!
In the city, you must study well, OK?

Đấy nhé! Mẹ gật đầu tức là đồng ý rồi đấy nhé!
Great! You nodded your head, it means agreement, right?
