Meaning and example :

Meaning: Used to identify the location of an object, a fact, or to indicate the goal of a fact.

Example:

A: Anh sống ở đâu vậy?
B: Tôi ở Bình Dương.
A: Where do you live?
B: I live in Binh Duong.

Cuốn sách được đặt ở trên kệ tủ.
The book is placed on the shelf.

Có một con mèo đang nằm ngủ ở trên mái nhà.
There is a cat sleeping on the roof.

Mọi người đều hy vọng rất nhiều ở anh nên xin đừng làm họ thất vọng.
Everyone are placing their hope on you, so please don’t let them down.

A: Cậu có nhìn thấy cái ví của tớ ở đâu không?
B: Tớ không thấy. Cậu thử tìm ở trong phòng ngủ xem sao.
A: Have you seen my wallet anywhere?
B: No, I haven’t. Try looking for it in the bedroom.

Ngày mai bọn mình hẹn nhau ở đây nhé. Không ai được đến trễ nha.
Let’s meet up here tomorrow. Don’t be late.

Anh nhất định sẽ làm được. Chúng tôi tin ở anh.

Sắc mặt cậu tệ vậy. Cậu bị đau ở đâu à?

Other examples :

A: Hôm qua con đã ở đâu? Tại sao không chịu về nhà?
B: Dạ hôm qua con ở nhà bạn chơi. Con xin lỗi vì đã không nói trước với mẹ.
A: Where were you yesterday? Why didn’t you go home?
B: I stayed at my friend’s house yesterday. I’m sorry for not telling you before.
