Is a conjunction.

Meaning and example :

Meaning: Used to give an assumption that, if the condition of the assumption is met, what is mentioned in the main clause is incorrect.

Note: “Trừ phi” is used with a verb phrase or one clause.

Example:

Tôi sẽ không đi đến đó, trừ phi anh cùng đi với tôi.
I won’t go there unless you go with me.

Công ty này sẽ bị phá sản, trừ phi có phép màu xảy ra.
This company will go bankrupt unless a miracle occurs.

Tớ sẽ không cho cậu mượn cuốn truyện này, trừ phi cậu cho tớ mượn đĩa game mới của cậu.
I won’t lend you this book unless you lend me your new game CD.

Trừ phi trời mưa, nếu không thì buổi lễ vẫn sẽ được tiếp tục.
Unless it rains, the ceremony will continue.

Trừ phi anh chỉ ra được những lợi ích mà kế hoạch này đem lại, nếu không, tôi sẽ không chấp nhận nó.
Unless you show me the benefits of this plan, I won’t accept it.
