Hyperbole
– Hyperbole is a way of exaggerating the degree, scale, characteristics of things or phenomena to emphasize and increase expressiveness.
– Example (hyperbole is used in underlined words and phrases):
+ Câu hỏi này khó quá, nghĩ nát óc mà chẳng ra.
This question is too difficult, I have racked my brain but still can’t find the answer.
+ Cô ấy đẹp như tiên vậy.
She is beautiful like a fairy.
+ Sao cô ấy có thể mặc cái áo xấu ma chê quỷ hờn đó mà đi dự tiệc chứ.
How could she wear that damn ugly shirt to the party.
+ Thanh niên mình đồng da sắt mà lại không khiêng nổi một cái bàn thì đúng là mất mặt.
It would be a shame if a young man with iron constitution couldn’t carry a table.
+ Cứ mỗi lần hồi hộp là mồ hôi lại túa ra như mưa.
Every time I get nervous, I sweat profusely.
+ Tớ không muốn ngủ cùng phòng với cậu ấy nữa đâu, cậu ấy ngáy như bò rống ấy.
