Ngắm
Meaning 1: Look something deeply
Example: Ngắm trăng là một hoạt động không thể thiếu trong những đêm trung thu (Enjoying the moonlight is an indispensable activity in the Mid-autumn festival).
Meaning 2: Look in a certain direction in order to aim at the right target
Example: Ngắm bắn mục tiêu (Aim at the target).
Nhìn
Meaning 1: To turn one’s eyes in some direction in order to see
Example: Vì bị cận nên không thể nhìn rõ những vật ở xa (I can’t see distant objects clearly because I am nearsighted).
Meaning 2: To care, to pay attention to something
Example: Không ai thèm nhìn đến chú mèo con lẻ loi trên đường (No one pays attention to the lonely kitten on the street).
Meaning 3: To acknowledge; to recognize
Example: Phải biết nhìn ra sai lầm mà bản thân đã mắc phải để sửa chữa (We need to recognize our mistakes to fix them).
Meaning 4: To have the front toward
Example: Khách sạn nhìn ra biển (The hotel faces the sea).
Thấy
Meaning 1: To perceive with the eyes
Example: Tôi không thấy cái gì hết (I don’t see anything).
Meaning 2: To perceive with the senses
Example: Ở ngoài ồn quá, chẳng nghe thấy được cái gì cả (It’s too noisy outside, so I can’t hear anything).
Meaning 3: To acknowledge
Example: Không thể thấy được cái sai của mình (I can’t see my fault).
Meaning 4: To feel
Example: Mình thấy vui lắm (I’m very happy).
Nhìn thấy
Meaning 1: To perceive with the eyes.
Example: Tôi không nhìn thấy cái gì hết (I don’t see anything).
Meaning 2: To acknowledge.
Example: Không thể nhìn thấy được cái sai của mình (I can’t see my fault).
Nhìn thẳng
Meaning 1: To look straight at something.
Example: Nhìn thẳng về phía cây cầu (Look straight at the bridge).
Meaning 2: To consider carefully.
Example: Nhìn thẳng vào vấn đề (Look at the problem).
Xem
Meaning 1: To perceive with the eyes
Example: Tối nào tôi cũng xem ti vi (I watch TV every night).
Meaning 2: To judge through observation
Example: Câu hỏi này xem ra không dễ chút nào (This question doesn’t seem easy to answer).
Meaning 3: A possible result of an action
Example: Cứ để cho cậu ta làm thử xem (Let him try)
Meaning 4: To predict one’s fate through fortune-telling
Example: Xem bói (To consult a fortune-teller).
Meaning 5: To regard
Example: Chúng tôi xem nó như con ruột của mình (We regard him as our own child).
Trông
Meaning 1: To look, to see
Example: Xa quá nên không trông thấy gì (It’s too far, so I can’t see anything).
Meaning 2: To look after, to mind
Example: Nhờ bạn trông nhà giùm (I ask my friend to look after my house).
Meaning 3: To expect
Example: Trông tin nhà (I’m looking forward to the news from my family).
Meaning 4: To trust someone, to look forward to someone’s help
Example: Chỉ còn biết trông chờ vào anh ấy (All we can do is count on him).
Meaning 5: To face
Example: Ngôi nhà trông về hướng nam (The house faces south).
Coi
Meaning 1: To perceive with the eyes
Example: Tối nào tôi cũng coi ti vi (I watch TV every night).
Meaning 2: To seem
Example: Mặt mũi coi cũng được (He / She has a good-looking face).
Meaning 3: To keep an eye on
Example: Coi nhà (To keep an eye on the house).
Meaning 4: To consider; to regard as
Example: Tôi coi cậu ấy như em trai của mình (I regard him as my younger brother).
